I get so fed up when people start talking about movies or other entertainment things and then say to me, "Oh, you probably haven't seen that", or "You wouldn't know about that." Really, I shouldn't get frustrated, I should rejoice, because, more often than not, there is probably a very good reason I haven't seen or wouldn't know anything about what they are talking about. And that should be OK with me. My parents have done their best to make sure that, as much as is possible, my heart is pure. The problem is that a lot of Christians seem to think it's bad to be sheltered.
I know that many of my posts deal in some way with this area, but I'm convinced that most Christians don't get the point that it isn't personal preference that determines what they watch, read, or listen to; it's God's nature that should determine what entertains them. God is holy. God is pure. Therefore, everything a Christian does in life should be holy and pure, and anything that isn't doesn't glorify God. Yes, that means anything that is not holy and pure should not be allowed in a Christian's life. Any movie, song, book, or magazine that has the tiniest amount of impurity in it has no place in a Christian's life. I'm not being intolerant; I'm not trying to hurt feelings; I'm just saying what most Christians know but don't apply to their lives.
1 Cor. 10:31--Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Peter 1:16--As it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1 Cor. 6:19, 20--What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Probably one of the biggest problems with Christianity today is that we want to please ourselves so much that we do not care what God thinks. But every time I sin, every time I please myself, I am basically slapping a holy, almighty God in the face and saying, "You really don't matter to me." That's scary.
Think of everything God has done for those He has saved. He sent His only Son to die a horrible death, to take my sin upon Him, to be forsaken by His Father and His disciples to redeem me. He forgives me every time I sin and gives me grace, mercy, and strength to live in a Christ-like way. Considering all He has done for me, don't you think the least I could is choose to honor Him in everything I do, including how I entertain myself?

Sonnet
I eat, I drink my sin like a starved dog.
I cannot turn my back to it; I lust
For more. It calls, it beckons, come I must.
Wallow in sin, I do, like a fat hog.
But God looks down and hates my blackened stains.
His boiling wrath will be poured out on me.
To curb His wrath requires a ghastly fee.
My sin, once my bliss, now my deathly bane.
“My God, what must I do for life?” I cry.
God pities me and grants eternal life.
He gives, for me, His only Son to die.
And on the cross for mine His life
He gave. And now to Him I can come nigh.
Because my sins are covered, I have life.
